Oil Stick 2016-present
Creating art in nature is my love. I am fueled by her wild energy and beauty.
Oil sticks are my medium. They are luscious, generous colors that are paint and a drawing tool at the same time. This combination allows me to make gestural, guttural strokes in colors to respond to the moment.
In my process, I slow down and carefully hone the painting. I follow it and see where the painting wants to go.
My goal is to make paintings that are beautiful, are alive, that speak. Nature is a reference, a starting point, as it offers infinite colors, shapes, lines, and relationships. I paint freely and spontaneously to allow my body to respond directly to what I am seeing. In this connection between plant and body – we merge.
I am no longer separate. This brings me calm, joy, and vibrancy. I offer these in hope that you may also find nourishment.
