Easter Installation 2005

In 2005, Artists at Walker Church each created an installation of one of the Stations of the Cross. The Stations portray events in the Passion of Christ from his condemnation to his burial.  Easter, rebirth was celebrated after walking this journey of the cross.

I chose “The Burial.” I interpreted this more broadly to include not only actual death but all the small deaths of grief and loss that humans encounter. Burial is releasing, surrendering our bodies and our grief to the Earth. She is able to hold them both and transform them into new life. Bodies are recycled into carbon molecules to create new life. When able to release our grief we have new life.
