The Patriot Act was passed after the 9/11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center, which was used as an excuse to violate the constitution.
As I look at these paintings in 2022, I see how much they speak to our current political times, the threat to Democracy.
The Patriot Act changed surveillance laws that made it easier for the government to spy on ordinary Americans. It turns regular citizens into suspects.
