Banana Story 1986

The  Nicaraguan Revolution had succeeded! But the US supported the right wing Contras to take power back and destroy it.

We created this show to garner support for the Revolution by countering the US lies that it was dangerous communists who had come into power.  

Spanish American Music, dancing, masks and puppets present this history of Nicaraguan and US Relations. The conditions of dire poverty and exploitation held in place by torture, death squads, and fear, motivated the people to revolt.  “We have nothing left to lose.”

The focus is on the power of people using both hearts and minds to create a better world for all. Without these, the world becomes distorted. We Americans have much to learn from Nicaraguan People about power and community.
